Nestled in the heart of Thornhill and overlooking the prestigious Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto, Royal Bayview is a stunning condominium community currently under construction. Designed by Tridel, this development promises elegance, serenity, and timeless architecture—and we had the honour of contributing to that vision with a bespoke Venetian plaster finish for the grand staircase railing.

When the designers at Tridel reached out to us for venetian plaster installationfor this multi-residential lobby staircase their vision was clear: a sculptural Venetian plaster finish that would elevate the staircase railing into a focal design element. With durability in mind and aesthetics at the forefront, our collaboration with II by IV design team led to something truly striking—a soft, metallic plaster that balances modern elegance with artisanal depth.

When the designer’s approached us, they were looking for a refined surface treatment that would serve as more than just a finish—it needed to become part of the architecture. Their vision: a soft champagne palette with metallic highlights, a subtle sheen, and just enough texture to feel tactile but clean.

Together, we explored several high-end Venetian plaster modern finishes to find the one that matched their aesthetic and technical requirements:

• Pearl Venetian Plaster – Ideal for that luminous, low-sheen glow.
• Velvet Finish – Offers a smooth, soft surface with a luxurious hand-feel.
• Marmorino – A natural, mineral-rich plaster for cloudy or layered finishes.
• Grassello di Calce – Highly polished and marble-like, perfect for visual drama.

To help design team truly visualize how each texture, colour, and finish would behave in real space, we conducted design consultations and presented several large-scale sample boards. These tangible surfaces allowed the designers to experience the depth, light interaction, and feel of each finish before making a final decision.

After a few creative iterations, the chosen finish featured a creamy off-white grey tone with hints of cashmere, a whisper of metallic sheen, and a velvety texture that echoed the soft curves of the staircase railing. It strikes a balance between subtlety and impact—calm, elegant, and distinctly modern.
